Founder, Fight Stroke Now
Dr. LaVasha Cain-Lobbins is the founder of Fight Stroke Now, a stroke education initiative shaped by her family's experience with stroke and by a longstanding professional commitment to healthcare education, neurocritical care, and medical-device environments.
Her relationship with healthcare is both personal and professional. It began with the experiences of her grandmother and aunt, and deepened through community health work, graduate study in adult learning and patient education, and years working alongside physicians, surgeons, and healthcare professionals in clinical education and medical-device settings.
Dr. Cain-Lobbins previously served as Director of Education for the Neurocritical Care Society, leading physician education across eLearning, annual meeting programming, education grants, publications, and multidisciplinary committee work. Her community health background includes coordinating health fairs through the NAACP, the Clippers and Curls for the Heart pilot project, and work with the Minnesota Stroke Partnership alongside neurologists and health professionals.
Today, her professional work spans leadership development, organizational effectiveness, executive transitions, and governance. Healthcare and medical technology remain important areas of focus because they connect directly to both her personal history and her belief that better understanding, stronger systems, and better-prepared people can improve how individuals and organizations navigate critical moments.
Dr. Cain-Lobbins earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Change & Leadership from the University of Southern California, a Master's degree in Education and Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Central Florida. She also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) credential.

Community Health & Stroke Advocacy
Served as Community Health Fair Project Manager with the NAACP, coordinating multi-organization health fairs with partners including the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and Kidney Foundation. Also led the Clippers and Curls for the Heart pilot project focused on reducing heart attack and stroke risk in African American communities, and contributed to the Minnesota Stroke Partnership alongside physicians and health professionals in neurology.

Today, her work extends into leadership development, organizational effectiveness, executive transitions, and governance across healthcare and other complex organizations.

Maxine and Patricia's stories remain part of why Fight Stroke Now exists. The form of this initiative may evolve over time. Future generations may one day interpret the mission through healthcare, neuroscience, technology, research, education, or another path entirely.
